Frequently Asked Questions

  What's the top speed?
At present the car has only been used on Public roads, so obviously it hasn't been taken over 70 MPH !!! However, the bikes the engines came from are capable of around 160 MPH, the gearing is similar & the car is a more slippery aerodynamic shape so probably at least as quick.

  How about the acceleration?
Again , hasn't really been accurately checked as yet, but very, very, rapid. 0-60 takes around 3 & 1/2 secs, can't be more accurate than that without proper timing gear - it all happens very quickly!
To put that in perspective most so called "Supercars" don't get under 4 secs, it accelerates faster than any Porsche or Lamborghini, all Ferraris except possibly the Enzo, quicker than the Ford GT & the Pagini Zonda, it's about the same as the Koenigsegg (but around £250,000 cheaper!!).

Will you definitely be going into production?
YES!!! The car is available as of NOW, a full rolling chassis kit is already available, most body panels are now available just the last couple of panels will follow shortly. See the "For Sale" page for pricing as it becomes available.

What is a kit likely to cost?
This is a very open ended question. Basic chassis kit prices start at £2250, it will be easily possible to assemble a really really nice, absolutely top notch example (proper engine, proper wheels/tyres etc.) for around £12,000. I am now building a chassis for a one donor vehicle with a car engine which will be on the road for less than £7k see the "For Sale" page for pricing. I think a typical build cost will be around £9,000 to £10,000 for a bike engined car.

  What are the build specifications?
The car uses a single donor vehicle for the bulk of the parts including the car engine & driveline. Most big bike engines would also be an alternative. The new bodywork is similar to the original car, but more tapered at the rear - more like a current F1 car. The car has been greatly simplified with new, more modern, suspension systems at both front & rear. Rear seat space has been increased & significant weight reduction made. I would anticipate an all up weight for SVA of around 480kg to 550kg giving nearly 400bhp per ton with a bike engine & similar performance to the prototype, a bit less with the car engine but more practical for everyday use.

  What about weather gear?
Got a crash helmet? I guess a tonneau cover might come in handy, & I would intend to make this available as sales progress.

  Is it comfortable?
Surprisingly, yes, I'm not suggesting it would make a high mileage tourer, but driver comfort is actually very good, the rear seat space has now been modified making it ok for anyone up to around 6' 4" & around 17/18 stone. The new chassis is significantly bigger in all the important areas & should accomodate all but the most massive!

  Is it genuinely road legal?
Yes,completely! I did have some minor problems with the SVA test, however the largest of these was with regard to the drive system which is different to anything they had seen before & not covered within the SVA manual. Other items were minor & will be easily resolved for the production version, SVA should be no more problematic than it is for Lotus 7 style vehicles.

Where can I view or test drive the car?
At present I am not intending to take a stand at any of the kitcar shows, although I am intending to take the "old" car to both Detling & Stoneleigh shows. However anyone who has a genuine interest in the car is welcome to contact me & a viewing can be arranged at Benfleet in Essex (about 20 minutes from the Dartford tunnel). A test drive would be largely pointless at present as although the production version looks very similar it shares nothing "under the skin". I would be quite happy to take out anyone I felt was making a genuine enquiry as a passenger to get a general idea of the type of performance available & to see public reaction for themselves. Tyre kickers & test pilots not welcome!

I want one!! When can I get one?
Talk to me, I'm usually available on 07905 879407, though please keep the hours civilised, or drop me an email. Lead time from deposit to chassis kit collection is about 8 weeks, by the time you're at rolling chassis stage I would expect to have all panelwork available
